This is a Kontakt Player libary, so you don't need the full sampler. Here are some alternatives that might be worth a look see: I'm guessing you're looking for a more agressive sound for rock, etc., is that right? IMO his "Slap Demo 4" - is about as close to sounding like an actual instrument as I think you'll find in a multi-sample library. One other question regarding your "hopefully better" comment: are you dissapointed with JSF? As I said above, I think it's about as detailed as you'll get in a bass lib with the various velocity layers, multi speed slides, grace notes, hammers, trills, diff positions, etc. Both Black and Red Bass products are Kontakt libs, so you'd need the full kontakt to use them. He'll soon be releasing Blue Bass, which looks to be a Fender model, and using the same advanced scripting.

He then went back and applied the same scripting technology to the original JSF and came up with Red Bass, which you can upgrade to for a modest sum being an owner of the original.
Check out his Black Bass (there's a video demo), which is a different bass than the JSF bass, and which was created as a Kontakt instrument from the ground up with extensive realtime playablity via kontakt scripting. I ask because scarbee has really taken his bass products to the next level in terms of playability. One question: do you have kontakt as well, or only halion?
J, there's a few options out there, but I think scarbee's original J-Slap 'n Fingered might be the most comprehensive available, in terms of articulation and detail. When i need to record electric bass sounds i use the Halion version of " Scarbee J-Slap'n Fingered " (which sounds realy good imho) but i'd realy like to know if there was some other (and hopefuly better) VSTi/DXi with fingered ans slaped electric bass sound ?
